Fr. Kevin E. Mackin, OFM, a member of the Franciscan community at St. Anthony’s Friary in St. Petersburg, Fla., is a priest in the Order of Friars Minor, Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., he first served at Siena College during the 1970s, as an assistant and associate professor of religious studies, chair of the department, and guardian (leader) of the 50-member Franciscan community.
In 1982, he was appointed president-rector of Christ the King Seminary, a graduate theological school in East Aurora, N. Y.
During his tenure he chaired the Seminary Department of the National Catholic Educational Association, Washington, D. C. Fr. Kevin has served on various national, diocesan, Franciscan and educational committees, including re-accreditation teams and papal visitation teams in the United States. He was assigned in 1988 to direct development and public relations for his Franciscan province, based in New York City.
From 1996 to 2007, Fr. Kevin served as president of Siena College near Albany, N. Y. and is President Emeritus there. As president of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N. Y. from 2008-2014, he also served as Professor of Religious Studies. Fr. Kevin’s recent ministry in Florida includes parish ministry and chaplaincy.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Bonaventure University, a master’s in history from Siena College, and four credentials from Catholic University of America including a doctorate in sacred theology cum laude. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education, and completed several other programs, including Clinical Pastoral Education.
